How To Set And Achieve A Really Big Goal For Your Studio

One of our favorite ways to set and achieve goals here at Studio Expansion is something we do called the Ripple Project©.

This is too much fun, I’m going to share with you the exact steps to do it yourself.

At the very beginning of a time period we go, “Okay, we’re going to chose one program in your studio.” It might be a tiny tots, it might be your salsa classes, it might be your toddler-baby classes, whatever it is you chose one program and we set a goal of how many new students we want to attract.

Let’s say we want to attract another 40 students. Let’s have a bit of fun with this, the next part of this process is we get a little bit artistic.

I’m no art teacher, I’m a music teacher at heart you know, but my art skills are not very great. From the local dollar store buy a canvas and if our goal is 40 new students, on this canvas you draw 40 little flowers, or 40 little hearts, or 40 little circles.

For every student you enroll over this time period, in the circle you draw in a little face, or you color in the heart, or you color in the flower. This is the most beautiful way of keeping track of how you’re progressing towards your goal.

You sit this by your computer, you put it in your office for you to look at every day, and you’ll see this beautiful canvas come to color, come to life as your studio attracts more students. It is such a fantastic way of keeping yourself motivated more than anything else.

In fact, one of my clients did this recently and she originally put 100 little faces on there but she was a bit cheeky with herself. She actually decided, “You know what, I’m going to put 120.”

Within four-five months she actually achieved 20% more than her goal.

She had gotten 120 new students by using this beautiful canvas goal setting strategy. It brings to life attracting new students and keeping you on track every single day.

Knowing your numbers is a really intrinsic part of being a studio owner, but sometimes it can be hard to keep track of these things and that’s why I like to keep things so simple.

One of my favorite ways to do that is with our beautiful little studio planner. At the end of every month there is a section where you can put in how you’ve performed in April. The total of student number you’ve grown from last month, how your retention percentage is improving, and how much more revenue you are achieving in the business.

Just keeping an eye on these numbers every single month is going to keep you motivated towards growth.

Not just maintaining, we want to be achieving significant increase in your business.
